In Fort Saskatchewan the Fort Lions Campground next to Turner Park is a wonderful spot to camp across from the North Saskatchewan River. This campground is connected to the city’s trail system, steps from the Strachans Landing Boat Dock, and fire pits and free firewood are available in Turner Park. Fort Lions Campground is open May to October with 42 sites and a tenting area.
While there may not be any campgrounds in Airdrie, there is several in Calgary, just 30 minutes away. The Calgary West Campgrounds offers tenting and RV sites. RV sites are available in full hookups, power and water, and no hookups. This campground is open from April 15th to October 15th with an outdoor pool, wilderness paths, shower and washroom facilities, playground, mini golf course, and so much more. About an hour drive west of Calgary, you’ll find Paddy’s Flat campgrounds along the Elbow River. This is a large campground with 100 treed campsites perfect for tents or RVs. This quiet location offers hiking trails, a playground, fire pits, a water pump, and outhouses. Bringing your own drinking water is recommended. Campsites are offered on a first come, first served basis with no reservations.
If you want to camp in a treed area with access to a developed beach, Half Moon Lake Campground, just 25 minutes from downtown Sherwood Park is the place to go. Here you can pitch a tent, use an RV, or rent a furnished cabin for your camping adventure. Enjoy mini golf, water activities, beach volleyball, nature trails, and so much more.
About 40 minutes from St. Albert and Downtown Edmonton, Devon Lions Campground offers camping via tents or RVs from May until October. Camp along the North Saskatchewan River Valley in treed quiet sites with access to washrooms, shower houses, playground, and a laundromat. Reservations are required as sites book quickly.
