Mental Health Activities To Do In Your Rental

Mental health awareness is better than it’s been in the past; but there’s still lots that can be done. Offer support for loved ones, friends, and co-workers, and try to help encourage mental health awareness around you.

Self-care is an important aspect in supporting your own mental health and wellbeing. Self-care can include speaking with a professional, a massage at your local spa, or spending time in nature. But did you know there are activities you can do in your own rental to help nurture your mental health.

Relaxing isn’t being lazy, taking time to relax can do wonders for your mental health. Yoga is a wonderful way to relax your whole body in a gentle and peaceful manner. Yoga is for everyone, even if you’ve never tried it before. Start with a 10-minute yoga practice on YouTube once a week, then increase it as you feel comfortable.

Likewise, meditating can help you reduce stress and relax. Meditating can mean sitting cross-legged on the floor or simply sitting comfortably in a chair. It’s important to do what feels right to sit and be alert for a period of time. If you’re looking for assistance, try watching a video on how to get started with meditation

Colouring isn’t just for kids; spending time colouring can help you unplug and clear your mind. Whether you use an adult colouring book or just grab a blank page and doodle, colouring is a fantastic way to calm your mind and take a break. Art therapy activities can be found on YouTube if you need some examples before you start doodling.

Puzzles can engage your mind and strengthen your mental health. Any puzzle will work; sit down and put a puzzle together or pick up a Sudoku or Crossword puzzle. As you work through a puzzle your mind and body will start to relax and you’ll even improve your abstract thinking.

Aromatherapy has been known to reduce stress and help aid relaxation. Bathing with aromatherapy can include a bubble bath with some essential oils like lavender. Soaking in a hot bath with calming scents can do wonders for stress. Use a bath pillow to ensure you’ll stay relaxed and comfortable in the tub.
