The Benefits of Working from Home

With COVID limiting people's ability to work in an office environment, we've been forced to adapt to working from home.

Some of the added benefits of working from home include increased productivity, flexible schedules, and more free time to do the things you enjoy.

Increased Productivity

Without the distractions of a busy office or chatty coworkers, there is more time in the work day to get everything accomplished more efficiently and effectively. A California-based company has tracked a 47% increase in worker productivity, driven by increased comfort, a better routine and the lack of distractions you'd typically find in an office. Working from home has allowed a large percentage of the workforce to stay on top of tasks and meet deadlines more frequently.

Flexible Schedule and Routines

Working flexible hours has allowed many people to create a work from home routine that allows them to maximize their time spent in their home office. Waking up and working until you are done with all your meetings and projects allows you to set your own schedule and work when you will be the most productive. The best way to keep on top of your routine is to treat each work day like you would treat a day at the office. Wake up and shower, have breakfast, set times to do specific tasks, schedule meetings more frequently to keep up communication, and minimize the length of breaks you take during the day.

Saving Money

Working from home will allow you to save money in several ways, starting with your commute, eating out for lunch and not needing to buy expensive work clothes. It will also let you claim tax benefits you wouldn't otherwise have. Working from home can also help alleviate some costs associated with childcare by allowing more flexible schedules. Cutting out your commute and unnecessary costs will let you save up more money in the long run.

More Free Time

At the end of the day, we all want to have a healthy work-life balance where we can do the things we enjoy with the people we love. Saving time from your commute and working on your own schedule allows you to carve out time to do things you enjoy. Working from home allows parents to see their children throughout the day by sharing meals like breakfast and lunch, providing invaluable time together. For those who don't have kids, it opens up time to play games or just relax after a long day.
