Where are the events taking place?

The winter Olympics are divided through Beijing, Yanqing, and Zhangjiakou. China will use a mixture of both new and existing venues for these games. In Beijing, we’ll see the opening and closing ceremonies as well as the ice events. Yanqing is a mountainous area perfect for skiing, therefore the alpine skiing events and sliding events including bobsled, luge, and skeleton will be held there. Zhangjiakou is another ski destination perfect for the ski and snowboarding events including freestyle, cross-country, ski jumping, Nordic combined, and biathlon.

Kids can get in on the fun too. CBC kids have designed a website to help kids learn about the Olympics, count down the days until they begin, and even play some fun games.

When do the Olympics end?

The Beijing Winter Olympics are set to close on Sunday February 20th with a closing ceremony at the National Stadium in Beijing. There’ll be 4 medal events on the 20th along with the figure skating gala, a celebration of all the performances.
